President Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai Trump made the trip to Augusta National Golf Club for the 2026 Masters Tournament this month — but what was supposed to be a dream weekend at golf’s most hallowed grounds turned into a frightening medical ordeal that required immediate attention.
Kai, 18, is the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump. She attends The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where she is currently a high school senior preparing for graduation.
Beyond her family ties to the White House, Kai has carved out her own identity as a serious competitive golfer. She has committed to play on the women’s golf team at the University of Miami, where she is scheduled to enroll this coming fall.
Her social media presence has grown substantially alongside her athletic career. She operates a YouTube channel with more than 1.4 million subscribers, where she regularly documents her life through vlogs that draw hundreds of thousands of viewers.
It was in one of those vlogs, posted Monday and centered around her upcoming senior prom, where Kai disclosed the medical incident that unfolded during her time in Augusta, Georgia. The video surpassed 250,000 views within roughly two days of going live.
The trouble started with something as routine as washing her face. Kai reached for hand soap available at the venue and used it to remove her makeup — a decision that set off an unexpected and alarming physical reaction.
“I was using hand soap on my face, when I was at Augusta, to wash off my makeup and I started getting these bumps on my neck,” she said in the vlog. The bumps signaled the beginning of a full allergic reaction that required medical intervention.
Doctors administered a steroid shot to get the reaction under control. “It was so, so scary. I mean the needle was like this big,” she said, sizing up the needle to be several inches long.
Kai addressed the aftermath of the reaction directly in the vlog. “Now, I don’t have a rash anymore, but I had an allergic reaction to the hand soap on my face,” she said. “I have very sensitive skin. It was so, so scary.”
Following the medical episode and after the steroid treatment took effect, Kai went on to enjoy the remainder of her weekend at Augusta National.
She documented her experience on Instagram, posting a photo alongside golfer Bryson DeChambeau — a vocal supporter of her grandfather — and DeChambeau’s caddie, Greg Bodine.
Kai had publicly predicted DeChambeau would win the tournament. DeChambeau failed to make the cut, however, after a collapse on the 18th hole during Friday’s second round ended his Masters run.
Rory McIlroy held firm to win his second consecutive green jacket at Augusta, cementing his place atop the leaderboard as the tournament’s champion.
Russell Henley, Cam Young, Tyrell Hatton, and Justin Rose — who lost to McIlroy in a playoff at last year’s Masters — all finished tied for third place at 10-under.
One notable figure absent from Augusta this year was Tiger Woods, who is currently in a relationship with Kai’s mother, Vanessa Trump.
Woods, 50, was arrested for driving under the influence in March after a rollover crash near Jupiter, Florida, and a judge granted him permission to leave the country to undergo comprehensive inpatient treatment.
A source told People magazine that Woods is now “fully integrated” into Vanessa’s family and is close with Kai. The source also indicated that Donald Trump Jr. has remained supportive amid the situation surrounding Woods.
Despite the allergic scare that briefly threatened to derail her Masters experience, Kai Trump left Augusta having witnessed one of the marquee events in professional golf — and with a story her more than one million subscribers were clearly eager to hear.
