Jan. 6 ‘Hero’ Arrested Amid Shocking Multi-State Probe

A former Washington, D.C., police officer has been indicted in a sprawling sexual assault case involving multiple victims across Virginia and Maryland, authorities report.

Timothy Valentin, 30, of Fort Washington, Maryland, faces dozens of felony charges, including rape, sodomy, abduction, and unlawful filming, stemming from alleged assaults between 2024 and 2025.

Valentin served with the Metropolitan Police Department from 2017 until his resignation in 2022.

During his tenure, he received a ribbon of valor and was recognized on a commemorative plaque for his role during the January 6, 2021, Capitol protests.

Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire described the alleged crimes as premeditated assaults targeting women he met through online dating platforms.

“Detectives learned he took women on dates, where it is believed he may have added substances to their drinks before sexually assaulting them,” McGuire said.

Investigators say Valentin would groom victims, often using alcohol or other substances to incapacitate them.

Court documents detail disturbing tactics, including administration of sedatives.

In one case, a victim tested positive for bromazolam, a potent benzodiazepine. Valentin allegedly recorded dozens of assaults, sometimes using aliases such as “Rico” and “Teo” when interacting with victims, according to WUSA 9.

The superseding indictment lists more than 30 charges against Valentin, encompassing a range of serious sexual and related offenses.

Among them are four counts of rape by force and four counts of rape by incapacitation, highlighting allegations of both physical coercion and the use of substances to compromise victims’ ability to consent.

The indictment also includes two counts each of adulteration and sodomy, two counts of abduction with intent to defile, and one count of aggravated sexual battery by incapacitation.

Additional charges in the superseding indictment include two counts of sodomy by force or incapacitation and 15 counts of unlawful filming.

Separately, authorities filed new charges in December 2025 related to another alleged assault, expanding the scope of the case even further.

The investigation covers Alexandria, Montgomery County, and Prince George’s County. Authorities in Montgomery County allege Valentin assaulted a woman in Takoma Park after meeting at bars in Bowie and Silver Spring, while Prince George’s officials have identified six additional victims.

Investigators warn there may be more survivors and urge anyone with information to contact law enforcement immediately.

Valentin was arrested in Alexandria in December 2025 after an automatic license plate reader tracked his vehicle following his entry into the National Crime Information Center system as a wanted felon, the Daily Voice reported.

He has been held in custody since and was denied bond in January.

Officials emphasize there is no evidence of wrongdoing while he served as a police officer.

Authorities continue collaborating with victim advocates and regional law enforcement to gather evidence and identify additional survivors.

Victims and witnesses are encouraged to contact the Alexandria Sexual Assault Center at 703-683-7273 or the Prince George’s County Sexual Assault Unit at 301-772-4908.

A secure evidence portal and tip line are available for confidential submissions.

The case underscores growing concerns over predators exploiting online dating platforms.

Officials stress that vigilance, prompt reporting, and cooperation with law enforcement are crucial to preventing further assaults.

Public awareness, education on digital safety, and support for survivors remain essential as investigations continue.
