A human resources executive has broken her silence months after being caught in an intimate embrace with her married boss on a jumbotron at a Coldplay concert, denying claims of an ongoing sexual relationship.
Kristin Cabot, 53, and former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron became the center of a viral sensation when they were displayed on the kiss cam during a July 16 concert in Boston.
The pair was shown in what appeared to be a romantic moment before quickly separating and attempting to hide from the camera’s view.
For months, Cabot remained silent about the incident that sparked widespread online discussion and speculation.
She has now come forward to address the controversy publicly, describing the encounter as a one-time mistake fueled by alcohol.
“I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” Cabot told the New York Times.
“And it’s not nothing. And I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay.”
The HR executive revealed she has faced severe consequences for that single moment.
She has been subjected to public ridicule online, mockery from celebrities, and has been labeled an “adulterer” by strangers who recognize her in public spaces.
Cabot disclosed that she received more than 60 death threats following the incident.
The harassment and public shaming have taken a significant toll on her life and reputation.
According to Cabot, she had developed a crush on Byron and was looking forward to introducing him to her friends at the concert. However, she maintains that prior to that evening, the two had never even shared a kiss.
The pair consumed tequila cocktails together, danced, and exchanged a kiss while seated in their VIP balcony section at the venue.
Cabot insists this was the only time any romantic interaction occurred between them.
Despite her explanation, Cabot expresses deep regret over what she characterized as a “cliché” situation.
“I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up. But you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them,” she stated.
The moment became even more awkward when the couple’s reaction to being shown on camera caught the attention of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
He commented on their behavior to the entire crowd.
“Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy,” Martin told the audience, drawing further attention to the pair.
Byron reportedly recognized himself on the massive screen and appeared to say, “F****** hell, it’s me,” according to witnesses and video of the incident.
Cabot described her immediate emotional response as one of intense embarrassment and horror.
Both she and Byron quickly left their seats and retreated to the bar area following their exposure on the jumbotron.
The HR executive had two primary concerns in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
She worried about the impact on her professional career and about humiliating her estranged husband Andrew, who was also attending the same concert with his own date.
Cabot explained to the Times that she did not want to cause embarrassment for her ex-husband.
She and Andrew had been married for two years but were already separated when the scandal unfolded.
The professional implications were equally troubling for Cabot.
She was acutely aware of how inappropriate it appeared for a head of HR to be caught in such a position with the company’s CEO.
“I’m the head of HR and he’s the CEO It’s, like, so cliché and so bad,” she recalled thinking.
Following their exposure on the kiss cam, Cabot described how she and Byron sat together at the bar in apparent shock.
With their hands on their heads, they began discussing how to handle the situation that was rapidly spiraling beyond their control.
