If the stories journalists flatter themselves with could be believed, the role of a journalist is to ‘speak truth to power’.
Supposedly, journalists are the ‘Voice Of The Little Guy’. They hold no political allegiances, and are openly hostile to attempts by anyone in power to conceal uncomfortable secrets.
If you believe any of that, you might just be the guy who slaps money down on a game of 3-card Monty. As Trump made clear with his war on the Fake News outlets and his systematic exposure of their bias from Day One of his time in office.
You might expect the media’s greatest fear to be the ramifications of a mentally-compromised man making life and death decisions impacting his country and the whole world. But it’s not.
The media’s greatest fear is that Trump could win in November. They have conducted themselves accordingly. So long as they thought they could shield Biden from negative scrutiny and block Trump from winning in the Fall, they were fine with the DNC rigging the game so that incumbent Biden could slot neatly into place as candidate Biden for November, without any of the messy internecine conflict that can damage a candidate going into an election cycle.
Ever since his massive failure in the debate, the party has been scrambling to decide their path forward. We are at a moment in time where they are torn between a full-court revolt from party loyalists (including the media) pressuring him as candidate to step down and let someone else run for 2024 on one hand and locking shields around him to help him limp over the finish line come November on the other.
George Stephanopoulos found himself caught between the two opinions of how best to serve the interests of the Democrat party… and he gave the game away in how he walked back a candid response to Biden’s ability.
In footage posted on TMZ George Stephanopoulos was approached by a guy on the sidewalk whose phone was discreetly recording when he asked what George thought about Joe Biden, since George has spoken to him more than anybody.
The ABC anchor answered ‘I don’t think he can serve four more years.’
He and his corporation are both distancing themselves from that statement.
