Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk announced Saturday the creation of a new political party — the “America Party” — following escalating tensions with President Donald Trump over the recently signed “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
Posting to X, Musk declared, “By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it! When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

The announcement comes on the heels of a poll Musk posted to X on July 4, asking users whether the time had come to move beyond the GOP and Democrat establishment. The overwhelming majority voted in favor.
