Donald Trump Jr. is scheduled to visit Greenland on Tuesday following his father, President-elect Donald Trump’s, renewed interest in the United States potentially seeking “ownership and control” of the territory, sources close to the matter confirmed to Fox News Digital.
“As someone who has traveled to some fascinating places across the globe as an outdoorsman, I’m excited to stop into Greenland for a little bit of fun this week,” Trump Jr. told Fox News.
The visit comes as President Trump continues to express enthusiasm for Greenland’s strategic and natural value. On Truth Social, the President-elect wrote, “I am hearing that the people of Greenland are ‘MAGA.’ My son, Don Jr., and various representatives will be traveling there to visit some of the most magnificent areas and sights. Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation. We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”
IT MIGHT HAPPEN: A man from Greenland was asked “if you could tell Trump anything, what would it be?”
He answered: “BUY US. Because we don’t want to be colonized by Danish government anymore we get ripped from our minerals in Greenland.”

Sources told Fox News that Trump Jr.’s trip is intended to be informal, focused on producing content for his podcast and exploring Greenland’s natural landscapes. “Trump Jr. is popping in for a quick day-long trip to shoot some fun video content for podcasting. He will not be meeting with any government officials or political figures,” the source said.
This visit has sparked renewed discussions about Greenland’s geopolitical significance. President-elect Trump has previously floated the idea of the United States acquiring Greenland, citing its strategic location and abundant natural resources.
While such a proposal faced backlash during his first term, it has re-emerged as part of his broader national security agenda.
In a recent announcement of his new ambassador to Denmark, Trump reiterated Greenland’s importance, stating, “For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity. Ken will do a wonderful job in representing the interests of the United States. Thank you, Ken, and congratulations!”
While no official diplomatic engagements are planned for Trump Jr.’s visit, the trip is expected to draw international attention given the history of U.S. interest in Greenland.
In 2019, the Trump administration’s overtures toward purchasing Greenland from Denmark were met with firm opposition from Danish and Greenlandic officials, who dismissed the idea as “absurd.”
The President-elect’s renewed focus on Greenland aligns with his emphasis on strengthening U.S. energy independence and enhancing national security.
Greenland, which is rich in natural resources and strategically located in the Arctic, could play a pivotal role in these efforts.
Though the upcoming visit is informal, it signals the Trump administration’s sustained interest in fostering stronger connections with Greenland and potentially revisiting the controversial proposal.
