Tensions reached a boiling point on the House floor Wednesday as representatives clashed over proposed amendments targeting military healthcare coverage for “transgender” procedures.
The heated exchange centered around amendments introduced by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), which seek to restrict Department of Defense funding for so-called gender-transition treatments.
Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-CA) initiated the confrontation by targeting Mace personally during floor debate.
“I think it’s very interesting that my colleague from South Carolina is so obsessed with the issue of trans people,” Jacobs stated.
Jacobs accused Mace of “using horrible slurs to talk about [transgender-identified people], when many people in this body have received gender affirming care.”
The California representative did not specify which statements she characterized as slurs.
The House is scheduled to vote on multiple Mace-sponsored amendments addressing military policies.
One amendment would prohibit the Department of War “from allocating taxpayer resources toward gender-transition procedures or treatments through TRICARE,” the military healthcare program.
A second amendment from Mace addresses athletic competition, seeking to prohibit “biological males [from] competing against our daughters in uniform.”
This targets military sports and fitness programs, per reports.
Jacobs responded to the proposed restrictions by drawing comparisons between military gender treatments and common cosmetic procedures.
“Filler is gender affirming care,” Jacobs claimed during her remarks.
The California Democrat expanded her comparison to include additional cosmetic treatments.
“Boob jobs is gender affirming care. Botox is gender affirming care,” she stated from the House floor.
Jacobs continued her defense by suggesting widespread use of such treatments among her colleagues.
“Lots of my colleagues have received gender affirming care,” she maintained during the debate.
The representative concluded her remarks with a broader policy statement. “And let me be clear, I think everyone should have access to the gender affirming care that they need. And I think we should respect everybody in this country.”
Following Jacobs’ comments, the House chamber descended into disorder.

Representatives could be heard shouting as tensions escalated on the floor, the Daily Caller outlined.
Mace was observed responding forcefully to Jacobs’ statements.
Video from the chamber shows Mace appearing to yell, “You are absolutely ridiculous” as the confrontation intensified.
The chaotic scene required intervention to restore order to the proceedings.
The disruption highlighted the deep divisions within Congress over so-called transgender policies and military healthcare coverage.
In related news, Resist the Mainstream recently reported that senior officials inside the Department of Justice (DOJ) are weighing whether trans-identifying individuals should be barred from purchasing or owning firearms.
The consideration, described as preliminary but serious, would mark an unprecedented move by the federal government to target a specific group for firearm restrictions.
The DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC), which provides legal guidance to the Attorney General, has convened several meetings on the matter.
If enacted, such a ban would represent one of the most sweeping reinterpretations of gun ownership standards in decades.
