Delivery Driver Sparks Outrage After Disturbing Encounter Caught on Video

Authorities in Winston-Salem are investigating a disturbing incident involving a registered sex offender who allegedly made inappropriate comments to a 12-year-old boy during a food delivery, raising concerns about safety for families and vetting procedures for gig economy workers.

The incident occurred Tuesday evening when 34-year-old Giavontae Deangelis Archie reportedly arrived at a Winston-Salem residence to deliver a DoorDash order placed by Andria Frazier.

Security footage from a Vivint doorbell camera captured the moment her son opened the door.

According to the video, Archie allegedly asked the boy, “You are beautiful, are you taken?” before the child quickly shut the door, visibly shaken.

Frazier told local media that her delivery instructions specifically requested the food be left at the door.

She said Archie ignored the instructions and lingered outside, creating a situation she described on social media as alarming,”This overgrown nasty butt man is talking to my 12-year-old SON!!! … This sick world preys on our children!!!”

Authorities and public records show that Archie has a prior conviction for sexual battery against an adult female.

According to Hoodline, he is currently listed on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry and must maintain registration for ten years.

Legal experts note that prior convictions do not automatically result in new charges, but incidents like this highlight gaps in monitoring and supervision.

Further scrutiny emerged when investigators discovered that the DoorDash account used for the delivery appeared to be registered under a female name, raising questions about platform verification and accountability.

DoorDash policy prohibits harassment or unwanted sexual advances, and the company advises users to report incidents through its app while preserving video evidence.

Frazier confirmed she is cooperating with both law enforcement and the platform’s internal review.

The incident mirrors other troubling cases involving gig workers with prior convictions.

In 2023, a delivery driver in Charlotte with a prior sexual offense allegedly made inappropriate comments to a teenager while dropping off an order, prompting an internal investigation by the company and local authorities.

Similar incidents have occurred nationwide, raising questions about background checks and ongoing monitoring of individuals with criminal histories, The NC Beat noted.

Community reactions reflect broader concerns over the risks posed by repeat offenders in everyday settings.

Parents and neighbors have expressed unease over the exposure of minors to potentially predatory behavior during routine deliveries.

One resident said, “You want to trust people delivering food, but this just shows you can’t always rely on it.”

The situation underscores the responsibility of authorities and platforms alike to ensure public safety, particularly for children.

Experts argue that preventing these situations requires more than reactive measures.

Improved background checks, stricter account verification, and continuous monitoring of workers with prior convictions are essential to protect families.

Law enforcement emphasizes vigilance and swift reporting to prevent potential harm and hold offenders accountable.

As the investigation continues, Winston-Salem authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 2.

The case serves as a stark reminder that child safety in public and private spaces depends on oversight, enforcement, and proactive vigilance to keep repeat offenders from preying on the community.
