It’s a problem best summed up by an old Hillary Clinton ad: when the phone rings at three in the morning, who do you want to answer it?
Joe’s failure to address the nation on a day with such significant events happening is only one part of the problem. Kamala’s role in the Situation Room (or lack of it) raised eyebrows too.
What happened on Monday was hardy a ‘three in the morning’ problem. Right from the opening bell, the stock market took an absolute pounding. It was down 1000 points by day’s end.
We also saw Iran make good on their threats to respond to Israel picking off leaders of the terrorist group Hamas… including one who was killed in Iran.
Iran’s response was exactly the kind of response we would expect with an administration that has telegraphed nothing but caution and weakness from the day they were sworn in. They didn’t hit Israel, they targeted an American base in Iraq.
Iran’s regime wants regional dominance. They want to push out any presence the West has in the region. And they think they can make Biden blink. Just like he did in Afghanistan. Just like he did allowing the idea of a ‘minor incursion’ in Ukraine. Just like he did in… HOW many US embassies is it that have been vacated in the Biden years?
Biden’s idea of strong deterrence of a tyrant involves asking nicely: ‘don’t’. Of course, that hasn’t worked elsewhere, and it didn’t work here.
In the American base in Iraq that was attacked, nobody was killed, but there were injuries.
At least five U.S. personnel were injured in an attack against a military base in Iraq on Monday, U.S. officials told Reuters, as the Middle East braced for a possible new wave of attacks by Iran and its allies following last week’s killing of senior members of militant groups Hamas and Hezbollah. — Reuters

But Kamala ducking out of the Situation Room early is kind of weird for someone claiming to be the last one in the room with the President in these moments, and who is running for the role of Commander-in-Chief.

If this had happened under Trump — or even Dubya — the press would have long since released the hounds over such a delayed response.
