Candace Owens has made explosive allegations against President Donald Trump and his administration regarding the death of her former friend Charlie Kirk.
In a video posted online Wednesday, Owens appeared to explicitly blame the administration for Kirk’s assassination.
Kirk was fatally shot on Sept. 10 while delivering remarks at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.
Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old left-wing college dropout, has been charged with the assassination.
In her video statement, Owens made direct accusations about Kirk’s death.
“He gave so much of his life to Trump and to politics, and they were just like NOPE. That’s it,” Owens said.
She continued with claims connecting Kirk’s death to the subsequent national recognition.
“So here’s a holiday. What is with them giving them a holiday after they kill them? As soon as they give you a holiday, they definitely killed you. There’s no question – they killed you,” Owens stated.
The Daily Mail reported that the White House has not responded to Owens’ allegation, dubbing it her “most outrageous claim yet.”
The outlet further noted that following Kirk’s death, the Senate took action to honor his legacy.
One week after the assassination, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) led a unanimous Senate resolution designating Oct. 14 as a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk, marking what would have been his birthday.
Kirk’s widow, Erika, attended a ceremony at the White House last week.
President Trump presented her with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, awarded posthumously to her late husband.
A memorial service for Kirk was held in Arizona last month, drawing an estimated crowd of nearly 100,000 people.
Owens did not speak at the event and accused organizers of White House control over the proceedings.
Owens claimed she was deliberately excluded from participating.
“Why would I be invited by anyone in Trump’s Zionist administration, as I am speaking about the topics that I am speaking… It’s common sense they’re not going to allow me to share the stage,” Owens said at the time, according to Daily Mail reporting.
The podcaster also disputed media characterization of her absence.
She criticized the Daily Mail for reporting that she was “snubbed” from the event, noting that she did not attend the memorial service even as a guest.
Owens has been excluded from other memorial efforts as well.
She has not been invited to join the national Turning Point speaking tour that Kirk’s friends are continuing in his honor. Additionally, she has not participated in the podcast being maintained by Kirk’s Turning Point USA staff.
In recent statements, Owens has released text messages that she claims demonstrate Kirk’s changing views on Israel in his final weeks.
The messages were exchanged between Kirk and conservative commentator and Newsweek Editor Josh Hammer on the day before the assassination, Resist the Mainstream previously reported.
Hammer has disputed Owens’ interpretation of the messages.
He described them as being taken out of context.
Kirk had established Turning Point USA as a major force in conservative politics.
The organization became one of the most influential conservative youth movements in America, recognized for its campus activism and large-scale annual conferences that attracted thousands of young conservatives.
Following her husband’s death, Erika Kirk issued a public statement.
She announced her commitment to continuing his work and assumed the role of CEO of Turning Point USA.
