Elon Musk has announced that he will attend Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on October 5. The X (formerly Twitter) and SpaceX CEO shared the news on Thursday night, posting: “I will be there to support!” on his social media platform.
This rally marks Trump’s return to Butler following a near-fatal assassination attempt on July 13, when the former president was struck by a bullet in the ear during a rally. The incident occurred as Trump momentarily glanced at a screen displaying data on illegal immigration. One attendee lost his life shielding his family, and two others were injured and hospitalized.
The Trump campaign had previously issued a statement about the significance of his return to Butler, calling it “a tribute to the American spirit.” The release described the July incident as a moment of “divine providence” that saved Trump’s life and vowed that the return rally would demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity.
“In America, we do not let monsters like that evil assassin have the last word,” the campaign statement read. “Every time our nation is struck by attack or hardship, we rally, we persevere, and we prevail… And when a shooter attacked our democracy and tried to end this movement, President Trump will return to the site, joined by tens of thousands of proud citizens, to celebrate a unifying vision for America’s future.”
After surviving two assassination attempts in just nine weeks, Trump is said to be more determined than ever to continue his mission. The campaign underscored his commitment, stating, “On July 13th, he took a bullet for democracy—and on November 5th, he is going to save our democracy.”
Recent Senate reports have revealed several Secret Service lapses on the day of the July shooting, including a failure to act on warnings of a “suspicious person with a rangefinder” near the building from which the shooter, Thomas Crooks, eventually opened fire.
Musk, who publicly endorsed Trump after the assassination attempt, has emphasized his belief that Trump’s leadership is critical to America’s future. Known for his innovations in technology and space exploration, Musk has positioned himself as a vocal supporter of Trump’s 2024 presidential bid, asserting that the country needs Trump’s leadership to ensure its survival.
