Elon Musk has announced that he will be attending Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on October 5. The CEO of X (formerly Twitter) and SpaceX shared the news on X Thursday night, stating, “I will be there to support!”
This rally marks a significant return for Trump, who narrowly survived an assassination attempt during a previous event in Butler on July 13. The former president was grazed by a bullet near his ear as he briefly turned to look at a screen showing data on illegal immigration. Tragically, one man lost his life protecting his family, and two others were injured in the incident.
In a previous statement, Trump’s campaign referred to his return to Butler as a “tribute to the American spirit.” The release emphasized the resilience of the nation, drawing parallels between Trump’s survival and America’s ability to overcome adversity. “When a shooter attacked our democracy and tried to end this movement, President Trump will return to the site, joined by tens of thousands of proud citizens, and together, they will celebrate a unifying vision for America’s future,” the campaign stated.
After two assassination attempts in just nine weeks, Trump is reportedly more determined than ever to complete his mission, according to his campaign. The statement framed his July 13 experience as taking “a bullet for democracy” and vowed that, with the support of Pennsylvanians and the rest of the country, Trump would ensure a safer, stronger America.
In the aftermath of the assassination attempt, questions have arisen regarding the Secret Service’s handling of the situation. A Senate committee report revealed that agents were aware of a “suspicious person with a rangefinder” for 27 minutes before the shooter, Thomas Crooks, fired. However, no action was taken to remove Trump from the stage.
Elon Musk has since publicly endorsed Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, solidifying his support after Trump survived the attack. Musk, known for his leadership in groundbreaking industries like space exploration and technology, has argued that Trump’s return to the presidency is critical for America’s future.
