Conan O’Brien is facing unwanted scrutiny after disturbing details emerged from a Christmas party held just hours before Rob and Michele Reiner were brutally killed.
Multiple party guests told investigators that a volatile argument erupted between Rob Reiner, his wife Michele, and their 32-year-old son Nick inside O’Brien’s Los Angeles home on Saturday night.
Sources say Nick appeared erratic throughout the evening. As tensions escalated, at least one guest reportedly suggested calling 911 to intervene.
According to multiple insiders, O’Brien stopped the call from being made.
“They got in an argument, the father and son. It got so bad and loud someone wanted to call the police,” one source said. O’Brien allegedly responded that it was his house and he did not want police showing up.
Another guest corroborated the account, saying concerns were raised about Nick’s mental state and the possibility of placing him on a mental health hold.
“When the situation got out of control, somebody said we need to call the police,” the source said. The idea was shut down.
A source close to the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed there were no 911 calls placed from O’Brien’s residence that night.
Less than twenty-four hours later, Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele, 70, were found dead in their Brentwood home, both suffering fatal knife wounds.
Investigators allege the couple’s son, Nick, slit their throats while they were in bed and may have been asleep at the time.
Sources close to the party say no one predicted the horrific outcome.
“Only the murderer is responsible,” one insider said. “But it must be gut wrenching for Conan knowing what happened after.”
Adding to the haunting revelations, sources claim Rob Reiner confided in friends at the party that he was afraid of his own son, per the Daily Mail.
“I’m petrified of him. I think my own son can hurt me,” Reiner allegedly said following the argument.
Those remarks reportedly resurfaced during an impromptu memorial attended by Hollywood figures days later, leaving several guests in tears.
One representative later denied that Reiner made the comments, though multiple sources insist the exchange occurred.
TMZ previously reported that the Reiners left the party early following a loud confrontation with Nick.
The couple had reportedly brought Nick to the event to keep an eye on him amid ongoing struggles.
Nick had been living in a guesthouse on the Reiners’ property after years of substance abuse, repeated stints in rehab, and periods of homelessness.
Sources say his condition worsened after recent changes to his medication, describing him as erratic and dangerous.
Guests recalled unsettling behavior, including staring at attendees and repeatedly asking people if they were famous.
Nick was arrested Sunday night and has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He is being held without bail.
Prosecutors say the case remains active as investigators piece together the final hours leading to the killings, while the entertainment world reels and questions linger about warnings missed during a night that ended in tragedy.
