On Sunday, U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene took to X (formerly Twitter) to claim that a whistleblower, who had previously alleged that the ABC debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump was rigged, had reportedly died in a car crash.
“The ABC whistleblower who claimed Kamala Harris was given debate questions ahead of the debate has died in a car crash according to news reports,” Greene tweeted on September 15.
However, Greene did not provide any credible sources or reliable news reports to back up her statement. Despite the lack of confirmation, her tweet sparked an online frenzy, with some users trying to verify the claim and others fueling conspiracy theories.
A search through the platform revealed similar claims made on September 13. One user, tweeted: “Breaking: The ABC News whistleblower who revealed Kamala Harris was given the debate questions in advance has DIED in an auto accident. The crash happened early on the morning of September 13 outside Bethesda #Maryland.”
Like Greene, these users also failed to provide links to credible news sources. The whistleblower’s identity has never been publicly disclosed, making it impossible to verify the claims of the individual’s death or even their existence.
The story gained further attention when another user, @DocNetyoutube, who had previously claimed to have offered the whistleblower a platform, posted: “I am aware of the news reports regarding that the ABC whistleblower has died in a car accident. I am also aware that legal papers are being attempted to serve on me at this very minute.”
Despite this, @DocNetyoutube insisted that the whistleblower was still alive but acknowledged not having spoken to them recently. The user added that they planned to release the affidavit from the whistleblower, regardless of the current situation.
To date, there have been no verified reports or credible news outlets confirming the death of any ABC whistleblower.
