Dem Reveals Uncomfortable Truth About That Trainwreck, ‘Drunken’ Viral Interview

Jaime West wants Republicans out of public office. The man she has lived with for about 14 years, she told a national audience, is a libertarian who has “never” voted for Trump.

West, a Democrat running for the Fayette County Council in Indiana, made the disclosure on Piers Morgan’s program.

The appearance was her first interview since a local candidate forum put her at the center of a viral moment.

Clips from that forum spread rapidly online. Many viewers said she appeared to be intoxicated as she delivered an anti-MAGA monologue.

Morgan started with the drinks. He asked how many she had before the forum, and West said one.

Morgan then offered her a way out: “Here’s your chance to be completely honest and transparent.”

West changed her answer to “three beers.” She still rejected the idea that alcohol shaped what viewers saw, saying she was “not intoxicated” in the clips.

She added that she had not been drinking before the Morgan interview.

Morgan asked if she regretted anything she said at the forum, including her description of Republicans as racist and dumb.

West offered no apology. “No, I say it all the time. I’m not friends with them. I don’t like them.”

Moments later, she described her home life. “actually, my husband is a Republican,” West said. She then amended it: “he’s conservative, he’s a libertarian.”

Morgan seized on the contradiction. He told her that her stance “doesn’t sit very easily with the fact you’re married to one who lives with you. I mean, you sleep with the Republicans.”

West pushed back on the terminology.

She said she and her partner are “not technically married.” Morgan repeated his point more bluntly: “you literally have sex with a Republican.”

Ben Ferguson, co-host of The Verdict With Ted Cruz, took a different line with her.

He raised her position that Republicans should lose their jobs, a policy he said would reach everyone from elected officials to janitors.

Ferguson called that approach “what they do in dictatorship countries.”

West said Ferguson had twisted her meaning.

She accused him of “taking that little bit out of context.” She said her target was only Republicans holding public office, “whose salaries we pay because we’re their bosses.”

Ferguson tested the principle at her own kitchen table. West said she would fire her partner too if he ran for office. “he’s not doing a good job,” she said.

The conversation then turned to a line from her forum appearance, “we have guns too.” West told the panel she owns no firearms. Her husband, she said, owns around seven or eight.

She said she would not use any of them. “I’m a sign holder.”

Morgan asked what she meant by the gun remark. West said she has received “threats by MAGA” over the last 10 years.

Late in the discussion, West took the conversation in an unexpected direction. She told the panel that Fayette County is named for the historic figure Marquis de Lafayette.

She then addressed France directly: “Go France! I love the revolution that you’re all—yeah, I plead for you.”

The Morgan interview gave West her first chance to answer the questions the forum clips raised.

She confirmed the beers, denied intoxication, and kept her position on Republicans intact.

Her candidacy for the Fayette County Council continues to draw attention well beyond Indiana.
