Tuesday was supposed to be check-out day for a Pennsylvania family that had spent three weeks at the Great Wolf Lodge.
Instead, Monday inside their hotel room ended with a father and his 3-year-old son stabbed to death and the boy’s mother in custody.
Investigators accuse Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, of killing her husband, Charles “Chaz” Harrison, 36, and the couple’s 3-year-old son with knives.
She now faces criminal homicide charges. Court records show she was denied bond, and she sits in a Monroe County jail cell.
The dates line up like this: the family checked in Sept. 21, the attack happened Monday, and check-out was set for Tuesday. A preliminary hearing awaits on Oct. 21.
The lodge sits in Pennsylvania’s Pocono region. Investigators say a stay there ended with two deaths inside a hotel room.
The family comes from Towanda, a small rural town in Pennsylvania.
The criminal complaint describes the 911 call that brought officers to the lodge as a report about a “suicidal woman” who “needed help dying.”
Officers entered the room and found the two victims with stab wounds. They also found knives, blood and various medications, the documents say.
Investigators allege Harrison wielded “butcher knives” against her husband and son.
The victims were 36 and 3 years old. The accused is 27.
Melissa Rivera, who said she was Chaz Harrison’s sister, wrote publicly about the loss.
In her post, she wrote, “Their passing was sudden, and we are heartbroken trying to come to terms with losing two people we loved so dearly.”
Rivera set up an online fundraiser to cover funeral expenses. She referred to the younger victim as her nephew.
Rivera went on to say, “Chaz was a good guy whose whole life was centered around his wife and child.
He meant so much to our family, and the pain of losing both him and my nephew so unexpectedly is hard to put into words.”
Rivera wrote that her brother’s life centered on his wife and child. She said the loss of both him and her nephew is difficult to express.
Rooms at the resort can cost more than $600 a night. The couple’s stay stretched across three weeks.
Great Wolf Lodge answered questions about the extended stay through a spokesperson, who sent a statement to Fox News Digital.
“We’ve had families in the past stay at our resorts for extended periods of time while completing home renovations or repairs because our rooms are larger and there’s a lot of entertainment offerings, so a multi-week stay is uncommon, but not completely unusual,” the statement said.
The spokesperson described multi-week stays as infrequent, though not without precedent at the resorts.
The spokesperson did not say how the family paid for the stay. Fox News Digital received a referral to law enforcement for “specifics on this case.”
The company previously told Fox News Digital, “We’re cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation.”
Harrison had recently posted photos of the family on her social media account. The pictures place the family at the resort’s water park.
The couple appears to have been married for three years, according to their social media accounts.
Those details come from the criminal complaint, court records and statements to Fox News Digital.
Harrison’s preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 21. Until then, she remains in the Monroe County jail.
