Fox News host Emily Compagno delivered an emotional farewell to “Outnumbered” viewers Friday, bringing her nearly six-year run on the daytime program to an end as she prepares to take a permanent seat on “The Five.”
Compagno used the closing moments of Friday’s broadcast to thank viewers who have watched her analyze the day’s biggest stories since becoming a permanent co-host in 2021.
“After almost six years, I’d like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you at home who trusted me to help deliver and analyze the news every day at noon ET,” Compagno said during her sign-off.
The 46-year-old then turned her attention to the colleagues and production staff who worked alongside her behind the scenes.
Compagno specifically thanked executive producer Trina Thompson and the entire “Outnumbered” team, praising their “dedication, professionalism, and sheer talent.”
“It has been an extraordinary privilege and an honor to serve as a co-host of ‘Outnumbered,’” she added.
Compagno finished the farewell by pointing viewers toward the next chapter of her Fox News career: “From now on, see you at 5:00.”
Her departure from “Outnumbered” is not an exit from Fox News. Instead, Compagno is receiving a major promotion to become a permanent co-host of “The Five,” the network’s highly rated 5 p.m. roundtable program.
She will officially begin the new assignment Tuesday, Sept. 8, alongside Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino and Jesse Watters. Harold Ford Jr. and Jessica Tarlov will continue rotating in the program’s liberal seat.
Fox announced Compagno’s promotion in August, filling the permanent opening created after Jeanine Pirro left the network in 2025 to serve as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.
Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott praised Compagno when announcing the change, calling her a “standout” whose energy and talent had impressed executives throughout her time at the network.
The promotion places Compagno on one of the most-watched programs in cable television.
“The Five” averaged 3.6 million viewers during the second quarter of 2026, according to Nielsen figures released by Fox. The network said the program completed its 19th consecutive quarter as cable news’ highest-rated show.
Compagno had already been a familiar presence on “The Five,” regularly appearing as a guest and rotating panelist before receiving the permanent position.
When Fox announced the promotion last month, Compagno described joining the program full time as an “incredible privilege.”
“I am grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started,” she said.
Compagno originally joined Fox News as a contributor in December 2018. She was promoted to permanent co-host of “Outnumbered” in January 2021, appearing alongside Harris Faulkner and a rotating group of panelists, per Trending Politics.
Her move now creates another opening in Fox’s daytime lineup.
Fox said a rotation of network personalities will temporarily occupy Compagno’s “Outnumbered” chair while executives search for a permanent replacement.
The change comes amid a period of movement across Fox News’ roster. “The Five” itself has continued evolving, with Tarlov and Ford alternating in the liberal position while Gutfeld, Watters and Perino remain central members of the panel.
Before beginning her television career, Compagno worked as a criminal defense attorney and served as a federal attorney. She also previously served as a captain for the Oakland Raiders cheerleading squad.
At Fox, she has expanded beyond daytime television, appearing across the network while also hosting “The FOX True Crime Podcast with Emily Compagno.” She is also the author of the 2024 book “Under His Wings,” which became a New York Times bestseller.
Friday’s farewell closed Compagno’s chapter at noon with an emotional expression of gratitude, but her departure marks a promotion rather than a goodbye to Fox viewers.
Beginning Tuesday, those viewers will find her one hour later in the afternoon — permanently seated at the table of the network’s biggest-rated program.
