Beloved Fox News Star Drops Life-Changing Announcement

A man who has made a career out of breaking news live from the White House turned the cameras on himself Sunday — and the story he had to tell had nothing to do with Washington politics.

Peter Doocy, Fox News’ Senior White House Correspondent, used the closing moments of “The Sunday Briefing” to reveal that he and his wife are expecting their third child, sending the segment out not with a policy debate, but with a family celebration.

The announcement was characteristically Doocy — direct, unscripted, and delivered with a grin.

“And finally, I have some family news,” he told viewers. “This segment we were just doing, it’s aimed at America’s youngest citizens. I’ve got two at my house, you can see George there on the left and Bridget on the right.”

Then came the reveal.

“Well, here is a Fox News alert — another one is on the way,” Doocy said. “My wife, Hillary, is pregnant.”

Doocy confirmed the baby is due in November. The timing carries a layered personal significance — the due date falls on the birthday of his father, Steve Doocy, co-host of “Fox & Friends.”

“She is due on my dad’s birthday, so Doocy, party of five, coming soon and this little bundle of joy will be here in time for midterm coverage on ‘The Sunday Briefing,’” the correspondent added.

The new baby will join the couple’s daughter, Bridget Blake Doocy, born in February 2023, and son George Jack Doocy, who arrived in April of the previous year.

George Jack Doocy entered the world weighing 8 pounds, 11 ounces after 30 hours of labor — and he arrived on the couple’s fourth wedding anniversary.

Doocy marked the occasion on social media at the time, writing: “Meet George Jack Doocy! Born after 30 hours of @hillary__vaughn labor at 8lb, 11oz and 20.5″- on our 4th wedding anniversary. So thank you, son, for being the reason I’ll never forget to get your mom a card when I’m grabbing a birthday card for you!”

Hillary Vaughn, formerly a correspondent for Fox Business Network, has her own track record of working through labor. When Bridget was born, Vaughn told People her water broke while she was on her way to Capitol Hill for work.

With son George, history repeated itself — Vaughn was again on Capitol Hill, this time covering Tax Day, when a routine OB appointment revealed the baby was ready to arrive.

“Maybe he was tired of hearing me talk about taxes — I don’t blame him!” Vaughn said.

After George’s birth, Vaughn reflected on building their family, telling People: “It has been such a blessing to welcome our son to this world and it is just as special to see Bridget welcome her baby brother George. Growing our family means giving our kids lifelong best friends and as a new heartbeat fills our home, our hearts are filled with more love than ever before.”

The network’s official Sunday Briefing account on X amplified the announcement following the broadcast, sharing video of the reveal and writing: “Exciting news from the Doocy family! Peter Doocy announced that he and his wife, Hillary, are expecting baby No. 3. George and Bridget are getting a new sibling, and the family is soon becoming a party of five!”

Doocy, a Villanova University graduate with a degree in political science, joined Fox News in 2009 as a general assignment reporter in New York, going on to cover every major election and major breaking news event in the years that followed, including the Sandy Hook shooting, the Boston Marathon bombing, and the Navy Yard shooting.

He earned his promotion to Senior White House Correspondent in 2024 and now serves as a rotating co-host of “The Sunday Briefing.”

Doocy repeatedly clashed with then-President Joe Biden and White House press secretaries Jen Psaki and Karine Jean-Pierre during the Biden years, generating some of the most-watched moments from the White House briefing room during that period.

With a third child due before the midterms, Doocy will now be juggling one of the most demanding beats in journalism alongside the demands of a household of five.
