Iconic Liberal Host Arrested

A longtime Philadelphia sports radio personality is facing criminal charges after an alleged domestic incident that led to his arrest early Wednesday morning.

Authorities confirmed that Mike Missanelli was taken into custody at his home in Lower Merion Township following a reported dispute with his fiancée.

Police responded to the residence around 12:10 a.m. after receiving a 911 hang-up call, according to reports.

When officers arrived, they encountered both Missanelli and his fiancée, who provided conflicting accounts of what took place.

Missanelli told police the two had a “scuffle” during an argument related to their engagement.

He claimed his fiancée struck him in the chest, though officers reported observing no visible injuries on him.

His fiancée, however, told a different story.

She alleged that Missanelli struck her on the left side of her face and head during the altercation.

Police said they observed a laceration with fresh blood and swelling near her ear, supporting her account of events.

Following the incident, Missanelli was arrested at the scene and charged with one misdemeanor count of simple assault and a summary offense of harassment.

He was later released after a preliminary arraignment, with unsecured bail set at $10,000.

A no-contact order was issued, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 22 in Montgomery County.

The case has quickly drawn attention due to Missanelli’s public profile and long career in sports media.

He has been a fixture in the Philadelphia market for decades, working across print, radio, and television.

Missanelli began his career as a journalist with The Philadelphia Inquirer before transitioning into radio.

He later became a prominent host on SportsRadio 94 WIP and eventually joined 97.5 The Fanatic, where his shows consistently ranked among the top in the region.

In recent years, he has also built a reputation for incorporating political commentary into his broadcasts.

Missanelli has been openly critical of President Donald Trump and his supporters, frequently posting political opinions on social media.

In one post, he described Trump as a “misogynistic pig who abuses women” and used harsh language to criticize those who support him, as the Conservative Brief reported.

Those past statements are now resurfacing in light of the current allegations.

His employer has already taken action following the arrest.

The Fideri News Network, which operates the On Pattison podcast, announced that Missanelli will be removed from programming during the legal process.

In a statement, the company said it “condemns all acts of domestic violence” and will continue to monitor the situation.

The case remains ongoing, and no final determination has been made regarding the charges.

As legal proceedings move forward, the incident is likely to have significant consequences for Missanelli’s career and public standing.
