Newly released U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) files show that Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor sent personal photographs of his daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein years after Epstein’s criminal conviction.
The images were included in Christmas emails sent in 2011 and 2012, according to documents released Friday as part of a tranche exceeding three million Epstein-related records.
At the time the photographs were sent, Eugenie was between 21 and 22 years old, while Beatrice was 23 and 24, the files show.
The emails were sent after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for procuring a minor for prostitution, contradicting Andrew’s prior claims that he had cut off all contact with Epstein.
One email dated December 21, 2011, was sent from Andrew’s official “HRH The Duke of York” email account and included a festive greeting card.
The card featured multiple photographs, including images of Beatrice and Eugenie posing together in the snow, a snow-covered Royal Lodge, and Andrew canoeing.
The message wished Epstein “much joy and happiness” for the season and was signed personally by Andrew, according to the DOJ release.
A second card sent on December 20, 2012, included images of Beatrice climbing Mont Blanc and Eugenie participating in a London charity bike ride.
Additional photographs showed Andrew abseiling down The Shard and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, walking across Great Slave Lake in Canada.
The release has reignited scrutiny of Andrew’s relationship with Epstein, particularly given the timing of the correspondence.
The files also include emails showing Andrew inviting Epstein to dinner at Buckingham Palace shortly after Epstein completed house arrest.
In one exchange, Epstein offered to introduce Andrew to a 26-year-old Russian woman, to which Andrew replied that he would be “delighted” to meet her.
Other documents reveal affectionate emails between Andrew and Ghislaine Maxwell, in which the pair referred to each other as “darling,” “sweetheart,” and expressed love.
Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in the United States for sex trafficking offenses tied to Epstein, per the Daily Mail.
Royal expert Jennie Bond said the latest revelations place Eugenie and Beatrice in an increasingly difficult position as they navigate their father’s continued disgrace.
Bond said the sisters are likely conflicted as they attempt to protect their own public standing while grappling with the fallout surrounding their parents.
The documents also include disturbing photographs appearing to show Andrew leaning over a woman lying on the floor, though no further context is provided.
Andrew has consistently denied wrongdoing and has not been charged with a crime related to Epstein.
The release is part of an ongoing disclosure of Epstein-related records, which continue to implicate prominent figures across politics, business, and royalty.
