Police Flabbergasted After City Council Meeting Takes Complete U-Turn

A Missouri woman wanted on multiple felony charges was apprehended in an unusual and very public way after her location was inadvertently revealed during a city council meeting.

Authorities say Jameicia Moore, facing two counts each of domestic assault and armed criminal action, was taken into custody on Jan. 12 in Berkeley.

Police had been trying to locate Moore since October 2025, following two violent incidents allegedly involving her boyfriend.

For months, Moore ignored all attempts by law enforcement to speak with her, refusing to meet or respond to requests from the Berkeley Police Department.

Her decision to appear at the council meeting, however, proved decisive, according to The Blaze.

While addressing city officials on an unrelated matter, Moore caught the attention of officers present. Major Steve Runge, seated in the chamber, recognized her from the ongoing investigation and discreetly alerted his team.

“Are you kidding me? Was my reaction,” Runge told KTVI-TV, recounting months of failed attempts to reach Moore. “Because we were trying to get her to come talk to us and she just refused.”

Footage from the meeting shows Moore speaking to council members as officers identify her. To avoid disturbing the proceedings, they waited until she left the room, taking her into custody in a hallway.

“And I’m like, lady, you’re wanted by the police,” Runge added.

The criminal charges against Moore stem from two separate incidents last fall, according to Law & Crime.

On Oct. 22, she allegedly became enraged after her boyfriend mentioned another woman. As a result, she grabbed a butcher knife and stabbed him in the left arm.

Authorities say the victim recorded the incident on his cellphone, and the footage shows Moore warning, “You’re lucky I didn’t stab you in the f–ing chest.”

Three weeks later, on Nov. 11, Moore is accused of assaulting the same victim again.

During an argument, she allegedly struck him in the left leg with a baseball bat, causing visible bruising. The encounter was reportedly captured on video, showing Moore wielding the weapon.

Following the second alleged attack, the victim contacted police, but Moore continued to refuse cooperation, telling officers she had no reason to speak with them.

St. Louis County Prosecutor Melissa Price Smith praised the swift response of Berkeley officers.

“Shout-out to the Berkeley Police Department, who were really on top of their game—very aware,” she said. “It’s actually quite surprising, though, that she then appeared at the Berkeley City Council meeting two months later on a completely different matter.”

Moore was initially held on a $100,000 cash-only bond, later reduced to $15,000 by a judge. She is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 17, 2026.

Her arrest highlights the need for vigilance during public meetings and the challenges police face when suspects refuse to cooperate.

Even after months on the run, Moore’s public appearance made her easy to catch—serving as a reminder that no one can stay hidden forever.

“You can run,” Runge said, “but you can’t hide.”
