Lara Trump revealed that when it comes to buying a Christmas gift for President Donald Trump, the family sticks with something simple that he genuinely loves.
In an interview with the New York Post, the president’s daughter-in-law admitted that shopping for the leader of the free world is no easy task. But over the years, the family has found a reliable tradition that never misses.
Every Christmas, Trump receives framed family photos.
“Every year he gets basically framed photos of us with him,” Lara said. “But he likes them. And a lot of them go on the desk behind him in the Oval Office.”
She added that Trump knows exactly what’s coming.
“He already knows this is coming. This is the standard for him for Christmas and his birthday,” she said.
Lara, who is married to Eric Trump, acknowledged that despite the gift’s simplicity, it still feels difficult to find something worthy of the president.
“I feel bad because as the president of the United States, he’s giving so much to us as a country, we want to be able to give something great back to him,” she said. “The truth is, for all of us, we’re like, ‘What do we get him?’”
While Trump may be hard to shop for, Lara said gift-giving for his grandchildren is much easier, and that responsibility is largely handled by First Lady Melania Trump.
One holiday tradition the grandchildren look forward to every year involves sneaking into their grandfather’s office and raiding his candy stash.
Trump is known for keeping his desk stocked with sweets, especially at Mar-a-Lago, often referred to as the “winter White House.”
The candy selection typically includes Starburst, fun-size Snickers, and M&Ms, with king-size candy bars occasionally making an appearance, according to the Daily Mail.
The Trump family is expected to gather in full force for the holidays, continuing long-standing traditions.
Lara said much of the family plans to attend Christmas Eve mass at Bethesda-by-the-Sea, the Episcopal church in Palm Beach, where President Trump and First Lady Melania were married.
With the family continuing to grow, Lara described the holiday gatherings as lively and festive, filled with children and grandchildren.
But the celebrations won’t stop with just relatives.
According to Lara, roughly 500 Mar-a-Lago members are also expected to take part in the festivities, along with potential celebrity guests, as has become tradition in past years.
At home, Lara and Eric fully embrace the Christmas spirit. The couple, who married at Mar-a-Lago in 2014 and now live nearby in Jupiter, Florida, decorate their tree with a mix of sentimental and patriotic items.
Their Christmas tree features handmade ornaments brought home by their children over the years, along with official White House ornaments from Trump’s first term. Some of those ornaments were personally sent by President Trump and Melania.
True to form, the tree is topped with a MAGA hat. This year, the couple went a step further, placing two MAGA hats at the top.
For the Trump family, the holiday season blends tradition, patriotism, and family, with even the president’s gifts reflecting what matters most to him.
