In a huge bombshell, President Donald Trump’s chief of staff Susie Wiles reportedly bad-mouthed the president and Vice President J.D. Vance, turning heads in the conservative world.
Wiles is embroiled in a fresh new political scandal over her comments about her boss.
The chief of staff issued a damning comparison of the president to her alcoholic father and iconic sportscaster, Pat Summerall. She said that Trump has an “alcoholic’s personality.”
According to Wiles, Trump “operates [with] a view that there’s nothing he can’t do. Nothing, zero, nothing.”
Wiles’ comparison is interesting, given that the president has never drunk alcoholic beverages, pointing to his late brother Fred’s addiction and severe troubles that led to his death.
In an apparent jab toward Vance, Wiles said the vice president has been “a conspiracy theorist for a decade,” as reported by the Daily Mail.
The chief of staff reacted to the revelations surrounding her remarks, calling such reports disingenuous and a deliberate “hit-piece.”
“The article published early this morning is a disingenuously framed hit piece on me and the finest President, White House staff, and Cabinet in history,” she said on X. “Significant context was disregarded and much of what I, and others, said about the team and the President was left out of the story.”
“I assume, after reading it, that this was done to paint an overwhelmingly chaotic and negative narrative about the President and our team,” Wiles went on.
Trump, interestingly, defended Wiles when confronted with the details.
The president claimed that Wiles was not actually calling him an alcoholic, but was rather making a distinction.
“No, she meant that I’m — you see, I don’t drink alcohol. So everybody knows that — but I’ve often said that if I did, I’d have a very good chance of being an alcoholic. I have said that many times about myself, I do. It’s a very possessive personality,” Trump told the New York Post.
“I’ve said that many times about myself. I’m fortunate I’m not a drinker. If I did, I could very well, because I’ve said that — what’s the word? Not possessive — possessive and addictive type personality. Oh, I’ve said it many times, many times before,” he added.
In her statement on X, Wiles praised the Trump administration and the president for his major accomplishments so far, just one year after taking office.
“The truth is the Trump White House has already accomplished more in eleven months than any other President has accomplished in eight years and that is due to the unmatched leadership and vision of President Trump, for whom I have been honored to work for the better part of a decade. None of this will stop our relentless pursuit of Making America Great Again!” she wrote.
