Vice President JD Vance will travel to Pennsylvania next week to continue promoting the administration’s economic agenda, according to two sources familiar with the plans who spoke with the Daily Caller.
The visit comes one week after President Donald Trump made a stop in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday as part of his year-long tour highlighting economic policy achievements.
This move follows Trump making it clear earlier this month that America’s so-called affordability crisis is nothing more than a Democrat talking point despite concerns from his own supporters.
The president argued that the country is already seeing real relief, noting that energy, gas, electricity prices are coming down.
Trump said that when electricity drops, everything else follows. He then ripped Democrats for pushing the idea of an affordability crisis under his presidency.
Now, Vance is scheduled to deliver remarks near Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, Dec. 16. A spokesperson for the vice president confirmed the upcoming appearance to the Caller.
The vice president plans to stress the administration’s commitment to addressing affordability concerns for American families.
His message will focus on the progress made since taking office.
“President Trump has made enormous strides in reversing the affordability crisis left behind by Democrats. From the historic working families tax cuts to over $18 trillion worth of investment in America, the benefits of the Trump economic agenda have only begun to kick in and there is more work to be done in the new year,” the spokesperson told the Caller.
The spokesperson emphasized the administration’s top priority moving forward.
“Expect Vice President Vance to emphasize the fact that making America affordable again is the number one priority of the Trump administration,” the spokesperson added.
President Trump spent more than 90 minutes addressing supporters during his Pennsylvania appearance on Tuesday, reported the Caller. He told the crowd the economy has shown significant improvement under his leadership.
Trump pointed to declining prices as evidence of economic progress. He specifically highlighted reductions in food costs and egg prices as areas where consumers should notice relief.
The president also repeated a claim he has made frequently in recent appearances. Trump argued that affordability concerns represent a Democrat “hoax,” contending that opposition party members created economic problems while pretending to care about fixing them.
Vance will mirror Trump’s talking points about the economy and cost of living during his Pennsylvania visit, according to the spokesperson.
The Republican Party has worked to develop messaging strategy on affordability issues since the November elections. Democrats secured important victories while making cost of living a central campaign theme, the Caller previously reported.
Public opinion data suggests Americans remain concerned about their economic situation.
A Politico poll released Thursday found that 46 percent of Americans described current cost of living conditions as the worst they can remember experiencing.
Among voters who supported Trump in 2024, 37 percent share this negative view of economic conditions.
The poll included 2,098 adult participants surveyed between Nov. 14-17, with a margin of error of 2 percent.
