Trump Regrets Betraying MAGA

MAGA warned him. Now, President Donald Trump admits they might have been right.

Weeks ago, the president made the controversial decision to pardon Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), who the Biden administration indicted on charges of bribery, money laundering, and conspiracy.

“For years, the Biden Administration weaponized the Justice System against their Political Opponents, and anyone who disagreed with them. One of the clearest examples of this was when Crooked Joe used the FBI and DOJ to ‘take out’ a member of his own Party after Highly Respected Congressman Henry Cuellar bravely spoke out against Open Borders, and the Biden Border ‘Catastrophe,’” Trump said on Truth Social.

Conservatives in the MAGA community expressed their shock and displeasure at Trump’s pardon. Many found such a move surprising, given that Cuellar was one of many Democrats who voted on multiple occasions to impeach the president.

“Isn’t this pardon utterly outrageous and suspicious?” an X user named Ultra Maga Kevin said. “This isn’t justice—it’s a blatant betrayal of ‘America First,’ shielding a corrupt politician to protect overseas alliances while everyday Americans get sold out. How much longer will we tolerate foreign interests pulling strings in the White House?”

“This is troubling at the very least,” another user wrote.

There is speculation that Trump’s decision to pardon Cuellar was made as a subtle negotiation to try and help Republicans pick up a congressional seat in Texas for the 2026 midterms.

However, the president’s decision seems to have backfired on him and Republicans.

Cuellar announced his intention to seek reelection for the House. This announcement serves as a devastating blow to Republicans, who need all the firepower they can muster to win the 2026 midterms and retain congressional control.

Following the Texas congressman’s announcement, Trump took to Truth Social, expressing regret at his pardon.

The president revealed that Cuellar’s daughters had sent him a “beautiful” letter describing their parents. Upon reading it, the president decided that he would pardon the Texas Democrat and his wife, arguing that they were “unfairly” attacked by the Biden administration.

Trump said that he felt quite good after his “life-saving” move, but that feeling didn’t stay for long, as reported by the New York Post.

“Only a short time after signing the Pardon, Congressman Henry Cuellar announced that he will be ‘running’ for Congress again, in the Great State of Texas (a State where I received the highest number of votes ever recorded!), as a Democrat, continuing to work with the same Radical Left Scum that just weeks before wanted him and his wife to spend the rest of their lives in Prison – And probably still do! Such a lack of LOYALTY, something that Texas Voters, and Henry’s daughters, will not like. Oh’ well, next time, no more Mr. Nice guy!” Trump said.
