Dan Crenshaw Quietly Gets in Big Trouble

House Republican leadership has imposed a three-month ban on Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) from participating in foreign congressional delegations following an alcohol-related incident during an official trip to Mexico, according to a new report.

The travel restriction, which extends through early next year, was quietly implemented by senior GOP officials after an internal review of the Texas congressman’s conduct during the delegation.

Sources familiar with the matter told Punchbowl News that Crenshaw’s behavior raised significant concerns among Republican leadership.

The decision to formally bar Crenshaw from international CODELs represents an unusually severe disciplinary measure.

While members of Congress occasionally face private reprimands for inappropriate conduct on foreign trips, a documented travel suspension from leadership is considerably more rare.

Leadership has kept specific details about the incident closely guarded. The restriction applies to all foreign congressional delegations through the early months of next year.

Crenshaw’s office has not issued any public statement regarding the travel ban or the reported incident in Mexico. The congressman, who has represented Texas’s Second Congressional District since 2019, has remained silent on the matter.

The former Navy SEAL has been a regular participant in congressional trips focused on national security and foreign policy matters.

His background as a combat veteran who lost an eye during a 2012 deployment to Afghanistan has made him a prominent voice on military and defense issues.

In recent weeks, he has spoken publicly about conservative media practices, appearing on Face the Nation to criticize what he views as problematic platforming decisions.

During that interview, Crenshaw stated that “moral clarity is a lot more important” than providing airtime to controversial figures.

He specifically called out Tucker Carlson for hosting white nationalist Nick Fuentes on his program. However, Crenshaw’s own political standing within Republican circles has become increasingly complicated.

Texas State Rep. Steve Toth announced a primary challenge against the congressman for the 2026 election cycle.

Crenshaw made headlines in February after he was caught on a hot mic saying he would “kill [Carlson]” if they ever met.

Resist the Mainstream reported that the Crenshaw was heard stating, “If I ever meet [Carlson], I’d f***ing kill him,” followed by what appears to be, “he’s the worst person ever.”

Crenshaw found himself at the center of a controversy back in December after journalist Nick Sortor reported that the Texas congressman was leading efforts to secure a congressional pay raise, linking this initiative to previous discussions about stock trading by members of Congress.

Sortor highlighted that Crenshaw had stated that there was “no way to better yourself as a Congressman” without the ability to trade stocks. Crenshaw would later respond forcefully, denying any involvement in congressional whip team decisions regarding pay raises.

“I’m not even on the YES list for the whip team. Never have been,” Crenshaw said.

In a subsequent X post, Crenshaw added, ““I live in Atascocita, just outside Houston. If you think I’m ‘rich,’ you’re a f***ing idiot.”
