An explosive break-up between President Donald Trump and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has shocked the MAGA coalition.
Since Trump took office, Greene has been a vocal critic of the president, appearing on liberal shows such as ABC’s “The View” and conducting interviews with Bill Maher.
The Georgia Republican, who once stood side by side with the president and was one of his fiercest defenders in Congress, has significantly changed her tune.
In a video that surfaced on X in October, Greene said she would not be a “blind slave” to Trump.
“I certainly support the president, but I’m not some sort of blind slave to the president and I don’t think anyone should be,” she said. “I serve in Congress. We’re a separate branch of the government and I’m not elected by the president. I’m not elected by anyone that works in the White House.”
Greene has criticized Trump’s policies, such as tariffs.
She has claimed that instead of bending the knee to his “crypto donors,” the president needs to attend to the needs of Americans who attended his rallies and supported him in the 2024 presidential election.
“I’m talking to major manufacturing companies and they are saying we’re having a problem with these tariffs… Has regular people’s stress come off? No. That should be the focus. It shouldn’t be helping your crypto donors. The focus should be the people that showed up at the rallies. I don’t think those people are being served,” she said in an interview with podcaster Tim Dillon.
On Friday, the Georgia congresswoman called Trump’s opposition to the release of the Epstein files “a huge miscalculation.”
“I think it’s a huge miscalculation, and I truly just stand with the women, and I think they deserve to be the ones that we’re fighting for,” she said.
It appears that after months of Greene blasting Trump, the president has had enough.
In a fiery Truth Social post, Trump announced he was withdrawing his endorsement of Greene, calling his former ally a “ranting lunatic.”
“I am withdrawing my support and Endorsement of ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene, of the Great State of Georgia,” Trump said, before listing his plethora of accomplishments so far.
“all I see “Wacky” Marjorie do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN! It seemed to all begin when I sent her a Poll stating that she should not run for Senator, or Governor, she was at 12%, and didn’t have a chance (unless, of course, she had my Endorsement — which she wasn’t about to get!),” Trump added. “She has told many people that she is upset that I don’t return her phone calls anymore, but with 219 Congressmen/women, 53 U.S. Senators, 24 Cabinet Members, almost 200 Countries, and an otherwise normal life to lead, I can’t take a ranting Lunatic’s call every day.”
“I understand that wonderful, Conservative people are thinking about primarying Marjorie in her District of Georgia, that they too are fed up with her and her antics and, if the right person runs, they will have my Complete and Unyielding Support. She has gone Far Left, even doing The View, with their Low IQ Republican hating Anchors,” the president went on.
Greene quickly rebutted Trump’s claims, accusing the president of lying. She shared messages that she sent to the president as he faces controversy over his connections to infamous financier Jeffrey Epstein.
“President Trump just attacked me and lied about me. I haven’t called him at all, but I did send these text messages today. Apparently this is what sent him over the edge,” she wrote.
Greene called the president’s efforts to prevent the Epstein files from being released “astonishing” and said that she spent much of her time in Congress defending the president and rallying support for him.
“But I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump,” she clarified.
