Kimberly Guilfoyle gave a candid look into her personal life during her first interview on Greek television, though she notably avoided discussing her relationship with Donald Trump Jr.
The U.S. Ambassador to Greece spoke with ANT1’s Maria Sarafoglou, praising her ex-husbands, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Eric Villency, the father of her son Ronan.
“It’s a wonderful experience. We have 20 years of friendship,” Guilfoyle said of Villency. She added, “What people need to understand about me is that I don’t give up. I will stay with you, I will be loyal. I will always be here — you can count on me. And I am proud of that.”
The remarks came just days after she joked about a “fabulous honeymoon” in Greece with Newsom during a meeting with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoula.
When asked about the marriage, she quipped, “We’ll work on getting a new husband,” laughing nervously at the exchange.
Guilfoyle, 56, also reminisced about her past travels in Greece, citing Athens, Hydra, Corfu, Mykonos, and Santorini among her favorite stops, according to the Daily Mail.
She maintained that she has a “very good relationship” with Newsom and a “wonderful relationship” with Villency, emphasizing the positive ties she has with her former partners.
The interview also delved into her personal history. Guilfoyle shared a formative lesson from her father following the death of her mother when she was 10.
“When I lost my mother at the age of 10, my father told me: ‘Kimberly, you must be strong. You have talent, abilities, and nothing worse can happen to you in life than losing your mother. Be strong, endure,’” she recalled. She added, “‘Whatever boys can do, you can do better.’ I believed him. He was my father.”
She used the lesson to encourage other women, urging them to “fight for what they believe in,” “blaze new trails,” and “don’t be afraid to take risks.” She emphasized, “If I can do it, then all women can.”
Guilfoyle also highlighted her professional journey, tracing her path from a prosecutor “fighting for justice” to television host and now ambassador. She said her work in Greece has already borne fruit, noting that in just a few days, U.S.-Greek relations have made significant progress.
President Trump appointed her to the ambassador role, and she cited their shared goal of transforming Greece into an energy hub.
“We want to demonstrate that Greece can become the energy hub that will help us counter Russian and Chinese interests,” Guilfoyle said. “What we are seeking is energy independence, which will strengthen national defense and national security.”
Guilfoyle’s interview aired late Thursday evening, with the Acropolis visible in the background. Her candid discussion combined personal reflection with a clear message about professional dedication and national priorities, presenting a multifaceted portrait of the ambassador as both a public servant and a woman navigating personal and professional challenges.
