In a controversial move, President Donald Trump is allegedly considering commuting Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison sentence.
Combs was sentenced to over 4 years in prison on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
Diddy has dominated the news cycle over the past couple of months as more and more information surfaces over his mind-boggling sex crimes and lewd “freakoff” parties.
Now, it appears that the president is inclined to pardon the controversial figure.
A White House insider reportedly told TMZ that Trump is considering commuting Diddy’s sentence and that a decision could be made as early as this week.
The source told the outlet that Trump is “vacillating” on a possible commutation for Diddy, with some White House officials reportedly urging the president not to take such an action.
“Trump will do what he wants,” the source said.
Such a revelation comes days after Trump commuted the sentence of former Rep. George Santos (R-NY), who was serving time over a federal fraud case.
TMZ reported that days after Diddy was sentenced to prison, the controversial rapper’s legal team engaged in conversations with multiple White House officials in search of a commutation from Trump.
Despite Diddy’s endorsement of former President Joe Biden in 2020, it seems Trump is open to possibly commuting his sentence.
The White House responded to TMZ’s report by denying that it is considering commuting Diddy’s sentence.
Despite this, TMZ maintains that its story is accurate.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, a White House spokesperson addressed the matter, saying it was untrue.
“There is zero truth to the TMZ report, which we would’ve gladly explained had they reached out before running their fake news,” the spokesperson said. “The president, not anonymous sources, is the final decider on pardons and commutations.”
In August, Trump spoke to Newsmax about the Diddy trial, pointing out that the rapper was “sort of, half-innocent.”
“Well he was essentially, sort of, half-innocent. I don’t know what they do that he’s still in jail or something. He was celebrating a victory but I guess it wasn’t as good a victory,” the president said at the time.
As a real estate mogul and entertainment sensation before entering politics, Trump was “friendly” with Combs, as the Daily Mail reported.
“I was very friendly with him, get along with him great, seemed like a nice guy, didn’t know him well,” Trump said.
Before endorsing Biden in 2020, Combs largely remained apolitical and stayed out of the political arena.
However, during the fiery 2020 election cycle, the rapper rebuked Trump and warned Americans not to re-elect him.
“If this man is elected, we’re not standing by no more getting killed,” he said. “We’re not scared of anybody standing up and standing by. We’re on the verge of a race war.”
