Authorities and experts are uncovering chilling new details about the secret hideout that allowed 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, the alleged assassin of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, to evade capture for nearly two days.
Robinson turned himself in on Thursday night after the deadly shooting at Utah Valley University, but the path he took to escape has raised serious questions about planning and opportunity.
Pulitzer Prize-nominated photographer Jeffrey Allred, who has spent decades documenting violent criminals, claims he has located the vacant property Robinson used as a temporary refuge.
Allred told the Daily Mail that the scene was “intense and jarring,” describing the hideout as a key factor in how Robinson managed to disappear after committing such a brazen act of violence.
Footage and eyewitness accounts indicate that Robinson fired a high-powered bolt-action Mauser .30-06 rifle from the rooftop of the Losee Center, where Kirk was speaking to a crowd of supporters.
After the shot rang out, Robinson is said to have jumped from the roof and fled on foot as terrified attendees scattered, per Trending Politics.
The Mauser rifle was later recovered at the abandoned property, confirming its role in his escape.
According to Allred, Robinson ran northeast over Campus Drive and into a red-brick building that is undergoing renovations. “It’s a home that isn’t being lived in at the moment,” Allred explained.
The property reportedly provided the perfect cover for Robinson to hide, discard his weapon, and vanish into the surrounding neighborhood. Whether Robinson knew about the property beforehand or stumbled upon it while fleeing remains unclear.
Allred noted that he encountered a construction worker at the site, suggesting the home may have been open due to ongoing renovations. “There was no crime scene tape, but a police lieutenant guarding the area confirmed the suspect had been there and told me to leave,” Allred said.
The officer appeared concerned because investigations were still ongoing, and the property had not yet been secured.
Speculation continues over how Robinson eventually left the property and returned home without being caught. Allred suggested a vehicle might have been waiting nearby, possibly a car or motorcycle, though authorities have not confirmed this detail. “We just don’t know how he got away after leaving the abandoned home,” Allred admitted.
The discovery of this hideout has intensified public scrutiny over how Robinson was able to execute such a calculated escape. The shooting itself shocked the nation, taking place just moments after Kirk praised members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Now, the focus has shifted to understanding how a suspect could evade law enforcement so effectively in a populated area.
Officials continue to investigate Robinson’s movements, looking for any additional locations or accomplices that may have aided him. The revelation of the secret hideout has raised urgent questions about security measures and how authorities might prevent similar incidents in the future.
Jeffrey Allred described visiting the scene as one of the most intense experiences of his career. “People are horrified. Most have seen the video of the shooting, and they cannot believe it,” he said. The investigation into Robinson’s escape route remains ongoing as law enforcement pieces together the final hours of one of the most shocking political assassinations in recent memory.
