A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal stabbing at a Northwest Side San Antonio convenience store, according to police and court records.
The victim was identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office as 25-year-old Sanad Faisal Al Reseq.
Officials ruled his death a homicide caused by sharp force injuries to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency medical efforts from first responders who attempted life-saving measures, KSAT reported.
Authorities said officers were initially dispatched shortly after 1 a.m. to reports of a possible shooting at the Classic Mart & 420 Shop on the 4000 block of Medical Drive near Fairhaven Street.
When police arrived, they instead found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Investigators later confirmed that no shooting had occurred and reclassified the incident as a stabbing investigation.
According to an arrest affidavit, the suspect entered the store and became involved in a verbal altercation with the victim before the attack unfolded.
Police said the confrontation escalated inside the business, where Davis allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the employee multiple times before fleeing the scene on foot.
Investigators said surveillance footage from inside the store, along with witness statements, helped identify Davis as a suspect.
Authorities later located him at a nearby apartment complex after officers surrounded the area in a coordinated response involving multiple units.
Police said Davis exited the residence after being confronted and was taken into custody without further incident.
According to MYSA, Davis is being held on a $500,000 bond and is expected to appear in court later this month for a pre-indictment hearing.
So far, he is the only individual charged in connection with the case, though officials have said the investigation remains active and ongoing as additional evidence is reviewed.
Court documents and local reporting suggest the confrontation may have stemmed from a dispute inside the store shortly before the stabbing occurred.
Police indicated the altercation involved the refusal to sell a 99-cent tobacco product due to age restrictions, according to KENS 5.
The incident has also drawn attention due to the store’s history of police calls for service.
According to SAPD records cited by Informing News, officers had responded to dozens of incidents at the location in recent years, including disturbances, assaults, thefts, and reports involving weapons.
Authorities have not indicated whether any prior calls were connected to Friday’s fatal stabbing.
Following the attack, the business was closed, and a candlelight vigil was scheduled outside the store as family members, friends, and community members gathered to mourn the victim.
Relatives and customers described Al Reseq as a well-known employee who had worked at the store for several years and was widely respected by regular patrons.
His cousin, who owns the business, said Al Reseq was working his final shift before reuniting with his father for the first time in a decade.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police said additional evidence, including surveillance video, forensic findings, and witness interviews, will continue to be reviewed as prosecutors determine whether further charges or updates are warranted in the case.
